My Story (Mi historia)

Hello everyone! Welcome to the Saving los Pennies blog, I am so excited that you have found the page and hopefully are here for some fun exploring on everything and anything to that may help our pennies grow. Though the blog includes pennies in the title we are focused on helping everyone save much more than pennies but loved the idea that you could start off with something as small as a penny and only grow from there. 

So why start this blog? 

I have always liked saving money anywhere I can. Like many Latino children, and other people of color, I grew up in a low-income household. I was fortunate that I never felt that I was missing anything, most likely because my dad always worked two jobs, but my family never talked about money. 

Now as an adult I have been able to learn a lot after reading books, taking classes, and simply asking questions to experts, a benefit that my parents and other family member never had. Throughout all this started noticing that some of this information just wasn’t easily available to everyone and I wanted to help change that. I want to make it easier for my sister, my cousin, my tía, or maybe even my mom to have access to the same information as I do to learn about money and save along the way. I will aim to publish most material in English & Spanish so feel free to share with your family & friends!

¡Hola a todos! Bienvenido al blog de Saving los Pennies, estoy muy emocionada de que hayan encontrado la página y espero que estén listos para explorando todo y cualquier cosa que pueda ayudarnos a ahorrar nuestros pennies. Aunque el blog incluye pennies en el título, nos enfocamos en ahorrar mucho más que solo pennies, pero nos encantó la idea de que pudieras comenzar con algo tan pequeño como un penny y solo crecer a partir de ahí.

Entonces, ¿por qué empezar este blog?

Siempre me ha gustado ahorrar dinero donde puedo. Como muchos niños latinos y otras personas de color, crecí en un hogar de bajos ingresos. Tuve la suerte de que nunca sentí que me faltaba nada (probablemente porque mis padres siempre tuvieron dos trabajos) siempre teníamos suficiente pero tampoco hablábamos de dinero.

Ahora, como adulta, he podido aprender mucho después de leer libros, tomar clases y simplemente hacer preguntas a los expertos, un beneficio que mis padres y otros miembros de la familia nunca tuvieron. Durante este tiempo, comencé a notar que parte de esta información simplemente no existía para todos y quiero ayudar a cambiar eso. Voy a usar este blog para ayudar a todas los que quieran aprender y empezar a hablar sobre el dinero. También planeo en ayudar a todas ahorrar en el camino ya que es algo que me gusta hacer. 

Como nota: El español es mi segundo idioma, es algo lo hablo en la calle y con mi familia, pero casi nunca lo escribo. Entonces si me equivoco de vez en cuando, no se enojen conmigo. ¡Gracias!
