If you haven’t seen Season 3 of Love is Blind maybe this blog post is not for you but if you have, continue reading! Spoiler alert: I will be discussing the finale of Season 3 so if you haven’t had time to finish the latest season, I would encourage you stop reading now before you accidentally read something you didn’t want to know. But come back to this post after you finished watching the season!

So, you may be asking yourself why in the world would a savings/money focused blog be writing about Love is Blind? Well, we have our very own Nancy Rodriguez on the show representing for many of us Latinas/Latinos, and she was not being afraid to talk about some tough conversations including money.

Though the show is focus on finding love, I really appreciated that Nancy highlighted parts of her career journey, talked about her real-estate business, and her perspective on debt. These are often topics that many of us Latinas tend to not want to talk about and part of why it may have been extra special that she talked about these things on Love is Blind. None of us were expecting that these topics would be covered but I loved chatting about her successes with my besties as we binged the latest season. She is money goals, and I am happy that she has had the platform to share some of her thoughts on these matters.

To set the matter straight, I am glad she didn’t get married to Bartise. She dodged a bullet there, in my opinion. I know that as an audience we can only see so much and in the end, it was a decision between them both. I think this decision was better than having to possibly get a divorce latter and go through some even more difficult money conversations that would have led to even more conflict as we have seen in other seasons. Even in all that drama between her and Bratise, Nancy was able to teach us some quick money lessons that I wanted to highlight & use as quick money lessons.

Real estate side income

Lesson 1: Be comfortable talking about money with your family (or those closest to you)

I loved that Nancy & her mom were both small business owners. Her family was super  supportive of her business ventures and it was awesome to see!

Lesson 2: Aim to keep debt low

This may have escaped some of you as we watched all the drama but Nancy managed to keep her debts low, like low low considering she owns so many properties. On the show she mentioned that she owed about 100k! That is super awesome and a great lesson for us all.

Note: We know this may not be possible in all states, until pretty recently Texas (where Nancy lives and has her properties) was fairly inexpensive but I could never  imagine doing the same thing here in California.

Lesson 3: Find ways to diversify your income

We never know when the tough times will come so if you have ways to have more than one income look at those options. In Nancy's case, she started a mini-Airbnb empire.

Overall, it was a fun season to watch, and I just wanted to have a quick shout out to Nancy who is not only doing amazingly as a person but also financially! She is money goals, and I am so happy to see more positive representation across the media and have more examples of Latina entrepreneurs.
